Cypress was founded in 2001 by Nick Thomson and quickly established a niche in transmedia strategies for Fortune 100 brands. The firm saw an opportunity to succeed by designing multi-screen experiences including web, mobile device, tablet, connected TV, and console devices.
Services offered ranged from multi-screen digital strategy, to UX design, to cross-platform development including iOS, Android, Roku and Xbox LIVE (360 and ONE).
The firm had a long term partnership with Microsoft and was recognized for creating solutions that leveraged pre-release Microsoft technologies. Cypress established partnerships with many other Fortune 100 companies including adidas, Amazon, Disney, FOX, The NBA, and Sony Pictures.

Cypress invested substantial R&D efforts into building their own product for Xbox 360 called CypressX that helped publishers monetize content and easily maintain their apps.
Merger and Acquisition
in 2013 Cypress and Ratio Interactive merged to create Ratio. Together the two complementary agencies formed the largest independent multi-screen firm in the Northwest with over 120 employees. The positioning of Ratio was sated as "A Multi-Screen Agency, for a Multi-Screen World." and they continued to pursue the focus established at Cypress.
Ratio was led by CEO Nate Thompson (Founder of Cypress) and COO Paul Kim (former CEO of Ratio Interactive). Bringing together two leading Seattle agencies together allowed Ratio to further fulfill the mission of connecting consumers across all major platforms.
In 2017 tech giant Globant acquired Ratio for an undisclosed amount adding talent to it's existing Seattle based digital team.
